I've been thinking a lot lately about the kind of work that I do.  For a long time, I've referred to myself as a "creative technologist", but if you try searching the Internet for a definition of that role, you won't be able to find a single explanation of it.  To me, a creative technologist is a hybrid.

They straddle the divide between design and creative concepting and technology and everything that entails.  A creative technologist must be knowledgeable about all the latest techniques and development tools, and also be right-brained enough to find a unique application for those tools in a creative context.  Rather than being pure technicians or engineers, they are visionaries and creative partners; someone who can help in concepting as well as seeing the idea through to implementation.  They represent the best of both worlds, and perhaps, it is for this reason, that they also tend to be so rare.  Not many people are capable of mastering both sides, but those who do can write their own destiny.
