Ah, Koreatown. It was the neighborhood that I grew up in. I have a lot of fond memories growing up in that part of town. During my recent trip to Chicago, I happened to drive by the old hood, and I was shocked and saddened to see how much it had changed. It seemed not too long ago that Lawrence Ave. was honorarily renamed Seoul Drive. But seeing the neighborhood today, all I can think was how it can no longer be called Koreatown. Now...well, it's just Albany Park. All the old Korean signs, businesses, and people are gone. That time has passed. Lawrence belongs to a new group of immigrants now.
